Megan's Baptism

My baby girl got baptized today! I can't believe how fast time flies! She looked so grown up. We had most of our family with us to celebrate this special occasion. It started out a little shaky because the man who was supposed to fill the font had thought we were baptizing her on a different day. Graydon got to the stake center and the doors were locked. The baptism started a little late and Graydon had to adjust how he was going to dunk Megan under the water. Poor Megan had to be dunked twice and the water was cold! She was really shivering! She was a trooper! It was a very sweet and special experience to spend this day with our family. Thanks to everyone who came!

New Glasses

Well it is official...four out of the five of us have glasses. Megan was so excited when the eye doctor told her that she needed glasses, she couldn't wait for them to be ready. So without further ado...

Practicing photography part 2

The Queen

Megan was cold the other day and so she wrapped herself in a blanket. Then she got the idea to make a robe out of blankets, like a queen. What you are looking at is two blankets a robe and a sheet. I can't believe she wasn't burning up. Silly girl...

First day of school

Okay still catching up...the kids have been in school for about a month. Wow time flies! Megan was really excited to go back to school and Tyler was not(he is already at that age!). They both were moving up with the same class so they didn't really have any nerves. They are still in the Classical education program and loving it. I tried not to take pictures in front of their friends but I couldn't help it. They still humor me...

Capitol Classic

Tyler and Megan participated in the Capitol Classic last Saturday. It is a mile long run that ends at the Capitol building. They had a great time. We had the perfect weather, cloudy with a slight breeze but not too cold. Last year it rained so I was glad that it was just cloudy. Megan was so proud of herself because she ran the whole way without stopping. This is a fun tradition we started with the kids and they look forward to it every year. It will be fun when miss Caitlyn can run as well.

Easter

We had a great Easter. Not only did we have a fun easter egg hunt but we also got to watch General Conference. The perfect weekend! The kids let us sleep until 8:00 and then we had fun watching them find the easter eggs. We had a yummy breakfast and then watched conference. A few days before Easter I was talking to Graydon and saying that I was really tired and just didn't feel like making my traditional meal of ham and scallop potatoes and so he suggested that I do something simple. The kids wanted 8 layer salad, which is super easy to make, and I was happy to make it. It was so nice just doing our own thing. I hope everyone had a great Easter!

A few weeks ago it was Dr. Seuss week at school. On one of the days they were supposed to dress up like their favorite Dr. Seuss character. Neither kid said anything about it so I figured that they weren't going to dress up. The night before dress up day Megan says, "Mom I have to dress up like my favorite character!" This is right before we put her to bed. I suggested Cindy Lou because that is the first one that came to mind. I searched for pictures and I found the picture from the book. I figured that was simple enough and this is what I came up with...

Haircuts

We have been meaning to get haircuts for a looong time. I don't think poor Tyler had had a haircut since July. Ever since I got bangs Megan has been asking to get "a bang". It took many corrections before she finally got it right:) It's funny because I am willing to do a lot of different things with my hair but when it comes to Megan's hair I get nervous. I think it turned out cute(thanks to my friend Kelli's mad skills!) In order for me to get the kids to stand nicely for the pictures I had to promise to post silly pictures of them as well. So here they are...

Yesterday we went Christmas shopping for the kids and I realized how much Megan has grown up. Last year her requests for Christmas were mostly toys. This year she wants sparkly clothes, a girls magazine(Tyler has been getting Boy's Life since he started scouts and she wants her own magazine), an MP3 player, and boots. Goodness! She is turning into a teenager before my eyes! I'm not ready for this. She is starting to get sassy as well. I'm am going to be in trouble when she becomes a real teenager. I am always saying that I wish I could freeze my kids at this age. They are so precious, well, most of the time. I loved this picture of Megan with Caitlyn. She is not as in to helping with Caitlyn as Tyler is but she still loves her a lot. So here is a picture of my sweet girls!

Conference Weekend

I love conference weekend and last week we had a great opportunity to teach the kids about the importance of conference. I always take notes because it helps me stay focused and I get a lot more out of the talks that are given. For the kids we usually get treats and assign a treat for a topic that might come up, i.e. everytime they hear a speaker talking about the scriptures they can have a gummi bear. This time around we wanted to help them get a little more out of conference so we talked to them about writing down things that interested them or things they had questions about. It was fun to see how eager they were to participate. Megan got really into it. She would copy the speakers name from my notes and then write down words that she heard. We cuddled on the couch while she wrote words like obeedeeinse(obedience) and testmoneae(testimony). They felt like they were grown ups and I think that is why they had so much fun. I hope they retained some of the information too, but if they didn't it was still a great bonding weekend for our family. I couldn't find Tyler's notes, but here are some of Megan's. There was page after page of this...

Playing in the rain!

I know that I just posted earlier but I had to post this. Megan was asking if she could play in the rain. I told her as long as she stayed in the driveway because I was on the computer and couldn't see her. I came out to check on her and this is what I found. Interesting outfit:) That is a winter jacket she is wearing. My kids make me smile.

Silly Megan!

Megan is so cute. I had to post some of the cute things she has said recently. The other day I was laying on the couch and she comes crawling up at my feet. I ask her what she is doing and she says, "Tiger seeks out Zebra, she finds her prey, she jumps, she tackles!" And she jumps on top of me. I laughed so hard. I had to write it down so I wouldn't forget it. She and Tyler have been reading a lot of Calvin and Hobbes lately so I'm assuming that is where she got it from. Also, a couple of weeks ago she was cuddling in bed with me and she said, "I could only get one eye open this morning, I was so tired. I was still half asleep." Where does she get this stuff. She makes me laugh. Yesterday we enjoyed the relief from the heat and opened the windows(when if wasn't pouring rain) and let the cool air in. The kids were building with legos and Graydon and I were reading on the couch, it was awesome. I am very blessed.

Having Fun

I haven't posted in a long time so I need to catch up a little bit. The next few posts are some of the things that we have been doing lately. My mom has been asking for new pictures of the kids and so yesterday I pulled out the camera and we had a little fun.

Megan kept taking silly pictures. I had a hard time getting a normal one from her.

Tyler has been reading a lot of Calvin and Hobbes comics lately and this is his impression of Calvin. He is so silly.
