First day of school

Okay still catching up...the kids have been in school for about a month. Wow time flies! Megan was really excited to go back to school and Tyler was not(he is already at that age!). They both were moving up with the same class so they didn't really have any nerves. They are still in the Classical education program and loving it. I tried not to take pictures in front of their friends but I couldn't help it. They still humor me...

Tyler turns 9!

I know this is really late but Tyler turned 9! My pictures were trapped on my other computer so it took me a while to retrieve them. Tyler wanted a Pokemon party this year. Unfortunately there were not Pokemon decorations at the store. Everything was being clearanced out so all we found were the masks. I was going to make a pinata but then decided to simplify things so that I wouldn't go crazy. We went to a park that Tyler and Megan call the twisty park because a lot of the equipment twists and spins. It is a really cool park. We had cake and played some minute to win it games, which were really funny to watch. All in all it was a great party and we had fun! I can't believe my baby is 9!

Capitol Classic

Tyler and Megan participated in the Capitol Classic last Saturday. It is a mile long run that ends at the Capitol building. They had a great time. We had the perfect weather, cloudy with a slight breeze but not too cold. Last year it rained so I was glad that it was just cloudy. Megan was so proud of herself because she ran the whole way without stopping. This is a fun tradition we started with the kids and they look forward to it every year. It will be fun when miss Caitlyn can run as well.

Pinewood Derby

Tyler participated in his first Pinewood Derby last week. Anyone who knows Tyler knows that he is a Lego fanatic so he decided to make his car out of legos and glue it to the block of wood they were given. I was a little concerned that this would be frowned upon but it worked well for him. There were some amazing cars, I'm sure the boys worked very hard on, and the dads' had nothing to do with ;) . I was worried that Tyler would be upset because his was not as spectacular as the other cars but he was proud of his car. It actually faired pretty well, especially considering we were worried one of the wheels would fall off! They had a track that registered how fast the cars went and Tyler's car was usually around 195 mph. Not nearly the fastest time but definitely a respectable speed. The thing that I loved the most was that Tyler was a great sport. His car only won once out of 5 or 6 races but he didn't let that get him down. I was very proud of him. He is growing up fast!

Easter

We had a great Easter. Not only did we have a fun easter egg hunt but we also got to watch General Conference. The perfect weekend! The kids let us sleep until 8:00 and then we had fun watching them find the easter eggs. We had a yummy breakfast and then watched conference. A few days before Easter I was talking to Graydon and saying that I was really tired and just didn't feel like making my traditional meal of ham and scallop potatoes and so he suggested that I do something simple. The kids wanted 8 layer salad, which is super easy to make, and I was happy to make it. It was so nice just doing our own thing. I hope everyone had a great Easter!

Glasses Anyone?

We finally took Tyler in to get his eyes checked and he ended up getting these cute new glasses. Now the question is how long will he go before he breaks them:) (Just kidding...sort of). He looks adorable(although I am not allowed to say he looks handsome or cute, just cool). There has been a bit of an adjustment for him but he is getting used to them. Now how do I take a picture of him and not get a glare? Ideas anyone?

Haircuts

We have been meaning to get haircuts for a looong time. I don't think poor Tyler had had a haircut since July. Ever since I got bangs Megan has been asking to get "a bang". It took many corrections before she finally got it right:) It's funny because I am willing to do a lot of different things with my hair but when it comes to Megan's hair I get nervous. I think it turned out cute(thanks to my friend Kelli's mad skills!) In order for me to get the kids to stand nicely for the pictures I had to promise to post silly pictures of them as well. So here they are...

Tyler's Baptism

I'm a little late on this but Tyler got Baptized! He was baptized the first Saturday of September. I can't believe my baby is baptized! It was one of the most spiritual experiences of my life! There is something really special about watching your child get baptized by his father that can't be described. When Graydon's brother Tyson asked Tyler why he was getting baptized he said, "To fulfill all righteousness." I couldn't believe it. I can honestly tell you that is something that we have never said. Sometimes I think that little boy will be far more spiritual than I will ever hope to be. I think he was really ready to be baptized. We were fortunate enough to have all of our grandparents, parents, and siblings there, which was awesome. Graydon's sister Tara was not going to be able to come but we got a surprise on Saturday! Graydon's dad, Nikki, flew her in just for the occasion. It was awesome!(Thanks Papa!) We were excited that Graydon's grandpa Wallace and grandma Jenee were able to come out(and allow us to have our own personal baptism :) ) We had such a wonderful time with the family celebrating this great occasion. Thanks to all who helped out (piano, singing, giving talks, helping with food, ect.) and to everyone who took the time to travel to be with us. We love you!

Tyler Turns 8!

It is Tyler's 8th birthday today! This is the first birthday that he got so excited about that he couldn't sleep. He has been counting down the days for weeks. Last night we put him to bed at 7:30; usually he stays up reading and playing until 9:00 or 9:30 but last night he wanted to go to bed right away so that his birthday would come faster. He told me this morning that he woke up at 3:00 and stayed up reading until Graydon came out at 6:00(He will be a wreck tomorrow). He came bursting in the bedroom this morning and said, "It's my birthday! I am 8! If I sin I will need to repent now, this is no longer practice!" I thought that was funny, I'm glad he understands that but I thought it was funny that that was the first thing he said. We've had a fun day going swimming and Tyler got to go and spend some birthday money on more Legos. I can't believe my baby is 8!

Having Fun

I haven't posted in a long time so I need to catch up a little bit. The next few posts are some of the things that we have been doing lately. My mom has been asking for new pictures of the kids and so yesterday I pulled out the camera and we had a little fun.

Megan kept taking silly pictures. I had a hard time getting a normal one from her.

Tyler has been reading a lot of Calvin and Hobbes comics lately and this is his impression of Calvin. He is so silly.

The Capital Classic

Megan and Tyler ran in the Capital Classic in June. They close down Capital Blvd. and the kids get to run a mile down the street and finish at the Capital. It was drizzling that day, but the kids didn't care. They had a great time and were excited to get all of the freebees at the end. It was a fun day.
